LYING For Jesus, Is Still LYING

Today, GAWD'S selected individuals, or those who claim they love Jesus, are reveling in their propensity for lies. They are mad about passage of Hate Crimes Legislation, that in their view will somehow hamper their rights to practice the doctrine of HATRED.
As long as their intent is to protect what they view as righteous indignation, bible based sinfulness and "scriptural" anti-gay commandments, it doesn't matter if Christians tell bald faced lies to protect what I consider to be superstitious beliefs, and fables right? All they have to do to feel sanctified, is claim "I have a right to express religious freedom." After they tell these heinous lies, all they are required to do, is repent and all is right with GAWD!

OUTRAGE US! It's More About Dick

"There are actually closeted politicians who are voting anti-gay. I said, 'OK, this is a very fascinating subject.' Gay rights is the most important human rights issue in the country at this point. I think we are all harmed by the fact that gays and lesbians don't have full human rights." Director Kirby Dick's new documentary Outrage looks at closeted politicians who take public stands against gay rights.

We know ALL about former President Clinton’s escapades and the details of John Edwards’ affair are fair game. So should reporting about Rep. Ed Schrock, cosponsor of the Federal Marriage Amendment, trolling for sex on a gay phone line. Outrage is bringing this debate to the general public and I welcome it.

Last Friday, the documentary Outrage opened in select cities. This film by Oscar-nominated documentarian Kirby Dick (Twist of Fate, Sick, This Film Is Not Yet Rated) is getting serious attention because it outs prominent federal, state and local politicos. The film outs not just run of the mill closeted politicians but the kind that really have it out for the LGBT community. You know, those folks that ACTIVELY fight against gay marriage, partner benefits, and gay adoptions, basically anything that might put us on equal footing with our heterosexual counterparts.

Outing will, no doubt, get plenty of debate in the coming weeks and this gets me to thinking. I have a ton of interest in the exploration of the main stream media’s culpability in not reporting on the sexual behavior of closeted gay men (or bi men or men who have sex with men – gotta hit all the categories) who choose to work on legislation against the interests of the GLBT community. The men featured in Outrage are not surprises to many in the gay world. It’s been reported by blogs like blogActive.com and reporters like Michelangelo Signorile for years. Why is it that the intimate details of straight politicians can go under the microscope but when it comes to the sex life of these hypocrites there is nary a peep from the mainstream outlets? (Source, 365gay.com)

"Outrage," the biting new political documentary by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick that opens today in Los Angeles, candidly explores the murky intersection between private lives and public conduct.
Dick's thesis is that Washington's closeted homosexual lawmakers, most of them members of the GOP, staunchly -- often stridently -- oppose equal rights measures for gays because they're anxious to conceal their own sexual orientation. He also shares a sentiment voiced by openly gay Democratic Congressman Barney Frank of Massachusetts who told the filmmakers that his Republican colleagues have "a right to privacy, but there's no right to hypocrisy."

So in that spirit, the film does what no mainstream cinematic treatment of this issue has done before: It names names. (Source, latimes.com)

Admission of BULLYING From A Closeted Mckelway?? Inquiring Minds Want To Know...

Yesterday, Mike Rogers appeared on News Channel 8's Let's Talk Live and the host, Doug Mckelway, was not too friendly, threatened to punch Rogers across the face and then basically begged him to take him to the movie. The segment, was about the movie, but Mckelway really didn't address the movie as much as he disagreed with "outing" poor, closeted homos who use their power for bad.
Mike Rogers explains his POV eloquently, but Mckelway totally enraged, responds, threatenedly, menacingly and he constantly talks over Rogers and his own co-host.

Today, Mckelway says he will not apologize for his threat "to take Mike Rogers outside and punch him across the face." Does Mckelway "hate" Rogers' tactics of outing politicians who vote against gay civil rights legislations while they get their gay on the DL or is it simply misdirected hatred towards Rogers because he may not want to be outed himself? hmmmmmmmmm.

*And Not Just Because He Might Be Gay

Adam Lambert fans may have mixed feelings over the appearance of their “Idol” on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly. They may also have mixed feelings over the accompanying story, which spends some time dwelling on Adam’s sexual orientation and wondering whether an “openly gay” contestant can win “American Idol” (This, despite the fact that Adam has never come out on the show).

Anyway, EW proclaims Adam to be the most exciting contestant on “Idol” in years (no argument there) and talks about how he has not only dominated the show, but has challenged it and even changed it. (Source, San Jose Mercury News Blogs)

The Downward Slide Into All Things Abhorrent

Pat Robertson suggests that legal same-sex marriage is an "ultimate conclusion" towards legalized polygamy, bestiality, child molestation and pedophilia. What is it with this sinister old man and his abhorrent interest in legal, consensual, same-sex marriage, oh religions' total loss of control over humans. If legal same-sex marriage is granted, it will end all civilization as we know it, and Armageddon is sure to be unleashed! But isn't that what escapist Christianists really really want?

Joe The Homophobe, Opportunist, Plumber, Idiot

Joe the Plumber, aka Samuel Wurzelbacher, sat down for a lengthy interview with Christianity Today to discuss his views on the future of the Republican party. Wurzelbacher took the opportunity to speak out against gay marriage, which he says is wrong. The unlikely conservative spokesman went so far as to say he doesn't allow openly gay people "anywhere near" his children. (Source, The Huffington Post)
Joe The Homophobe revealed his homophobic agenda and future as a Repuppetlican in an interview with Christianity Today:
Christianity Today: In the last month, same-sex marriage has become legal in Iowa and Vermont. What do you think about same-sex marriage at a state level?

Wurzelbacher: At a state level, it's up to them. I don't want it to be a federal thing. I personally still think it's wrong. People don't understand the dictionary--it's called queer. Queer means strange and unusual. It's not like a slur, like you would call a white person a honky or something like that. You know, God is pretty explicit in what we're supposed to do--what man and woman are for. Now, at the same time, we're supposed to love everybody and accept people, and preach against the sins. I've had some friends that are actually homosexual. And, I mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn't have them anywhere near my children. But at the same time, they're people, and they're going to do their thing.

Hey Joe, would calling you an "idiotic homophobe" be a slur on my part, or just what I'm supposed to do when I witness someone talking and acting like one?

Last time I checked, "God" was a device created by variant and often disagreeing organizations, institutions and people (like you,) existing to intimidate, fear-monger and bully others so they can achieve their own selfish agenda. Your sin of ignorance is particularly disgusting to me, but I would still let my children near you as an "object lesson" of what an idiot acts and talks like- that way they might refrain from becoming one.

Victims, Bullies And Certified Hate Groups

ter⋅ror⋅ism [ter-uh-riz-uhm]

-noun

the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear

Certified HATE GROUP Mass Resistance, claims in the above youtube video that on April 28, 2009 at Park Street Church, Boston during an ex-gay religious event, prominent homosexual activists, including Wayne Besen, Chris Mason, Tom Lang, Pat Gozemba, and others participated in "demonstration" of screaming, sirens, bull-horn and describe the actions as terrorism. MassResistance.org state on their website:
May 1, 2009
Tuesday afternoon, April 28, several major homosexual activist figures, including a prominent state employee, led a screaming demonstration to terrorize a downtown Boston church while it was holding a peaceful religious training event inside. Using a bullhorn, they illegally trampled through an adjoining Revolutionary War-era cemetery in order to be directly outside the church's windows. Despite numerous apparent violations of the law, the Boston Police talked with them but refused to make any arrests.
The group of about 30 hardcore homosexual activists started their demonstration across the street from the church, in the Boston Common, around noon. After a few haranguing speeches, they marched (with a high-powered bullhorn) to the sidewalk in front of the church and began screaming and chanting.
That looks more like a *protest to me. I recall at every PRIDE PARADE I have ever attended the throngs of fenced in, loving, happy, shiny, Christian "protesters" holding their signs and fabric banners with diverse slogans such as, "God Hates Fags," "Burn In Hell Sodomites," and "Love the Homosexual Sinners, hate the Sin of Homosexuality."

PS. and BTW, I distinctly remember that at the last AIDS WALK SF I attended, "protesters" with hateful signs that read, "Gay = Poo Play" and other equally berating slogans, chanted "turn or burn, sodomites!" at the top of their voices, and no one- no one mind you is defining them as a terrorist. Certified Hate Groups they are, but not terrorists.

*pro⋅test [n. proh-test; v. pruh-test, proh-test]

–noun
an expression or declaration of objection, disapproval, or dissent, often in opposition to something a person is powerless to prevent or avoid

If you have the stomach, read the comments left by "followers" of MassResistance.org on the youtube video page. It evidences the caliber of HATE mentality this group sponsors, attracts and fosters.

UNDERMINING Her Own Morals, Integrity And Christian Values... Miss Cali Caught With Her Top Down, Flashes The Victim Card... AGAIN

"I am a Christian, and I am a model, models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos. These attacks on me and others who speak in defense of traditional marriage are intolerant and offensive. While we may not agree on every issue, we should show respect for others' opinions and not try to silence them through vicious and mean-spirited attacks." Carrie Prejean, Miss California waiting to see whether the shots could affect her status as a spokeswoman for conservative causes and potentially, her future involvement with the Miss California pageant.

Racy photos of Miss California Carrie Prejean have popped up on the Internet -- and she says it's an attempt to humiliate her because of her anti-gay marriage views.

Miss California Carrie Prejean is none too happy about racy pictures of her own being posted on a website. Meanwhile, the Miss Universe pageant has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the National Organization for Marriage for using footage of the pageant in an anti-gay marriage commercial without authorization. (Source, usmagazine.com)

It's hard to claim you're morally superior when you haven't any morals-- lesson learned Miss Opposite Marriage? Don't ask for tolerance and acceptance of your bigotry while you speak out in an intolerant, unaccepting, bigoted manner- it's just not something I believe in in my country of California or in my family.

Convicted Crack Smoker Barry, Nostradamusizes On Civil War

"All hell is going to break lose. We may have a civil war. The black community is just adamant against this." Convicted crack addict, three times divorced and four times married, indicted three times for tax evasion and one DUI arrest, "moral politician" Marion Barry (D-Ward 8), defending his anti-gay "bigoted" position.
The D.C. Council overwhelmingly approved a bill yesterday to recognize same-sex marriages performed elsewhere, in a vote that followed a sharp exchange between an openly gay member and a civil rights champion and set off shouts of reproach from local ministers.

Barry, a prominent figure during the civil rights movement, said that he "agonized" over whether to oppose the bill but that he decided to stand with the "ministers who stand on the moral compass of God."

The council passed the measure by a vote of 12 to 1. During the debate, council member David A. Catania (I-At Large) accused Marion Barry (D-Ward 8), who cast the dissenting vote, of having taken a "bigoted" position.

After the vote, enraged African American ministers stormed the hallway outside the council chambers and vowed that they will work to oust the members who supported the bill, which was sponsored by Phil Mendelson (D-At Large). They caused such an uproar that security officers and D.C. police were called in to clear the hallway. (Source, Washington Post)

Pot Calling Kettle... you're ABSURD?

Marriage Equality, Civil Rights and Anti-gay Discrimination going to the cats and dogs? Robert Knight of Coral Ridge Ministries likens the marriage equality debate to discriminations between dog and cat licensing. Cats want their equality to be licensed like dogs now, and vice versa?

PS and By The Way, since when was Christianity, personal religion and superstition ever anything but a ridiculous opinion? And since when does personal religious beliefs, superstitions, fables and hateful anti-gay sentiments the end-all determination on state laws, local governance and civil discourse? For that matter who says God and Satan exist to vie for one's soul? Loony anti-gay bigots and homophobes who like to secretly step out and get it on with their buddies, and at some point confess their sins or get caught.

Their time is up, their charade is wearing thin, they don't get to determine society's rules any more- it must hurt really really bad to keep losing. And yet they keep flaunting their stupidity before DOG and humanity...

The Iowa Supreme Court ruled that the states ban same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. According to the court, Iowa was denying equal protection under the law to homosexuals who want to marry. Find out why this is ridiculous on Learn2Discern. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Bitter-straw man argument, party of two, your table is ready. And your argument lacks any semblance to logic... as does your religion... as does your analogy... as does your pathetic money-grubbing, fear pandering tactics against your gay neighbors.

Up To The Minute CARRIE!!! But Not The Musical Or The Stephen King Thriller

(Princeton, NJ) - Maggie Gallagher, president of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) released this statement today clarifying the role of Carrie Prejean at a press conference held Thursday in Washington, DC:

“A number of media sources have described Carrie Prejean as a spokesperson for the National Organization for Marriage.

As we made clear at our press conference yesterday: Carrie appeared with NOM as a private citizen; she does not work for the National Organization for Marriage. She is a spokesperson for her own views, as anyone watching her can tell. (Source, NOM)
The press release continues to include some of Carrie's personal "thoughts..."

You probably know by now. I believe very strongly that marriage IS the union of a husband and wife. What’s more I believe with millions of other Americans: This vision of marriage is not hateful or discriminatory—it’s good.

Marriage is good. There IS something special about unions of husband and wives. Unless we bring men and women together, children will not have mothers and fathers.

I am not affiliated with any organization; I'm speaking my own views. But I do appreciate the many people who stand in the front lines to fight for marriage, including the National Organization for Marriage. That’s why I agreed to appear today to support NOM's important message: Respect marriage. And the people who support it.

It’s not about me, it’s about the future of marriage. But I’m honored to do my part. Thank-you.

Here is Carrie Prejean's interview with Greta Van Susteran's on Fox News, courtesy of youtube.com:

As a spokesmodel for "opposite marriage," or what Carrie is now calling "traditional marriage." And because she is NOT running for political office, she has no real answers about "civil unions" or whether or not gays should have more than "some rights" or "you know hospital rights and things like that:"

VAN SUSTEREN: What is your thought on civil unions?

PREJEAN: My thought on civil unions? You know what, Greta? I don't have the answers to everything. I'm not running for political office. I don't have the answers to everything, you know, in the world out there.

But I think that there should be rights for people, you know, especially in California. I think that people that are homosexual should have some rights, you know, hospital rights, and things like that.

But I would like to be more educated on that, so when I do have a better answer for you, I will get back to you on that one.

But so far I just support traditional marriage, and that's my main focus.

Glad to know she has a "main focus" otherwise I'd think she was street rat crazy!

PS, It's amazing that when pressed later in the interview she gave an inarticulate answer much like her flawed pageant moment, "focus, marriage," "promote marriage," "I'm not a politician," and "I don't have an answer for that."

VAN SUSTEREN: What about adoption?

PREJEAN: Greta, I am focusing on marriage right now, not adoption, not civil unions, just traditional marriage, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to promote that.

VAN SUSTEREN: I understand, and I understand your position on traditional marriage. I'm just sort of trying to figure out where you draw the line in terms of what kind of rights that you think that a man and woman should have that maybe two men, two women, shouldn't have.

And that's why I was asking the question on civil unions and adoptions. I was just trying to sort it out for myself what you think.

PREJEAN: Well, I'm not a politician, so I can't give you an answer to that.

I'm sad to learn she's not running for office, I think she'd make an excellent Republican target. She has all the Right Wing Nutjob selling points down, and Saturday Night Live would have an arsenal of excellent comic material!

No Logic From The HATE Class

Funny how haters who choose to talk to the pro-gay opposition, never articulate their point with logic, in fact, their hate is usually fueled by insults, ignorance and intimidation.

Judy Shephard, Rachel Maddow and Passing The Hate Crimes Bill

Seeing this clip, and knowing the "apology" from Congresswoman Foxx was nothing more that her feeble attempt at semantics designed to cover her ignorant butt is evident.

Judy Shepard, despite all she has encountered in the aftermath of the tragedy and during her tireless campaign for federal money and stiffer penalties for convictions of hate crimes has demonstrated remarkable strength and fortitude. Thank you Judy Shepard, we need more people like you in this world.

KNOW OFFENSE GoodAsYou.Org Articulates What NOM And Prejean Can Only Dream Of Saying

How do you spell FAILURE? Two ways, NOM and inarticulate runner-up turned media victim, and boob job recipient Miss California Carrie Prejean.

Don't mess with us, we always win!

Hell Hath No Fury... Saying Something About A Despicable Act

When I left San Francisco in 2006, I never dreamed in a million years, this incident, which I can only describe as unfuckingacceptable, could happen. San Francisco Drag Royalty, Sainted Community Member, Host and Toast of many of San Francisco's finest club nights, drag shows and a community fundraiser extraordinaire, Anna Conda and husband were asked to leave a concert at The Fillmore after an obnoxious homophobe was reported to the bartender as harassing them and calling them fags.

Anna's own words which were posted on facebook.com are as follows:

I have been to the Fillmore several...HUNDRED.... times but last night for the Ladytron/Faint double bill may very well be my last.
During the Faint a 6,3" jock in a purple dress shirt walked by Brett and I and called us fags. I turned around and said "What?"
He said " I called you fags you wanna do something about it. No I didn't think so. Fuckin Faggots"
I went to the bartender because that just ain't right man! I was afraid because he was pretty big and pretty belligerent.
So I went to the bartender and said "Hey that guy called us fags."
The bartender got the security and I was promptly escorted from the premises. I tried explaining but they put big black marks on my hand and asked me to leave. "The bartender wants you out of here." That was the explanation.
When we got home I called the Fillmore and they said "Oh are you outside? Come back in."
HELLO? I had just been humiliated and removed from a 50 dollar show and the bigot who started it all got to stay and watch the show. It was probably his hetero privilege bachelor party!
This is the kind of thing that can't happen again! Sure the Fillmore said ooops and offered to have us see the show AGAIN for free but that isn't the real issue. A gift will not take away the humiliation at the hands of the ignorant masses. I will never feel quite safe at the Fillmore if I should CHOOSE to return.
Many of Anna Conda's facebook friends offered exceptional advice, support, and non-threatening actions which everyone affected by this and the aftermath of incidents like this can do. Blog about it, talk it up to your friends and community, report the abuse and boycott the living hell out of establishments that sponsor this deplorable act of homophobia. Not one to sit idly by, I am doing my part by identifying and reporting this issue to my readers. All LGBT people and their supporters should act in solidarity. This should never have happened, and should never happen again. Up to the minute, Anna Conda and supporters, organized a Fillmore Hates Fags advocacy group on facebook, told all of her friends, reported it to local media and a complaint has been filed with The SF Board of Supervisors.
In an incident that can only be described as deplorable; security staff at the Fillmore concert venue here in San Francisco removed Ms. Anna Conda and her husband after they were verbally assaulted and called 'fags' by a patron at the event they were attending last evening. After reporting the incident to a Fillmore bartender, the two were approached by security and told to leave because 'the bartender wanted them out'.

This cannot be allowed to stand. Today we unite and let The Fillmore know that we will not sit still for this treatment. This group has been created in an attempt to organize a protest at The Fillmore; hopefully by this evening's event.

Join us, invite your friends and come out to support your LGBT brothers and sisters as we continue to fight for our rights and make it known that we are no longer going to accept this abuse.

UPDATE: 04.30.2009 14.35: Live Nation has contacted Ms. Anna and offered their sincerity, apologies and provided assurances that the situation will be taken care of. They have also donated prizes to be used as fund raisers for Raya Light's AIDS Ride Benefit tomorrow night at Charlie Horse at the Cinch Saloon on Polk Street!

Drinking The JESUS JUICE, God's Calling Card Get's The Bum's Rush

Elaine Graham, of Farmington, left, yells in the hallway after being escorted out of a Judiciary Committee work session on the same sex marriage bill Tuesday afternoon at The Statehouse in Augusta.
Rep. Seth Berry, D-Bowdoinham at right, who had been standing beside her in the doorway walked her out of the hearing room.
The Legislature’s Judiciary Committee voted 11-2-1 today in support of a bill to allow gay marriage in Maine.
Eleven members voted in favor of the bill, two voted against it, and one voted to send it to referendum. (Source, Maine Daily News)

Reportedly the vote was interrupted when an anti-gay woman began screaming because she wanted legislators to reject the bill. Elaine Graham of Farmington was escorted from the Statehouse by Police, but no charges have been pressed against her. The bill will now move forward to the full Senate for consideration. Consequences? And What Were Her Consequences For Ignorance? Oh Yeah, She Lost The Crown...

con⋅se⋅quence [kon-si-kwens, -kwuhns]

–noun
1. the effect, result, or outcome of something occurring earlier: The accident was the consequence of reckless driving.
2. an act or instance of following something as an effect, result, or outcome.
3. the conclusion reached by a line of reasoning; inference.

"She is attacked viciously for having the courage to speak up for her truth and her values, but Carrie's courage inspired a whole nation and a whole generation of young people because she chose to risk the Miss USA crown rather than be silent about her deepest moral values." NOM's response and defense to the criticism of Carrie Prejean's blundering "opposite marriage" answer at the Miss USA Pageant. NOM will reward Prejean's ignorant bumblings with a new ad.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Carrie Prejean, the Miss USA contestant from California who famously declared her opposition to same sex marriage on the pageant stage, will star in a new $1.5 million ad campaign funded by the National Organization for Marriage.

Prejean was roasted by same-sex marriage advocates after she stood up for what she called "opposite marriage" (marriage between a man and a woman) when responding to a question from celebrity blogger Perez Hilton during the pageant. But she's also become a fresh-faced standard-bearer for the same-sex marriage opponents, who have rallied to her defense.

The National Organziation for Marriage has scheduled a press conference with Prejean in Washington on Thursday to unveil the new ad, called "No Offense."

PS. and BTW, when a pageant queen eff's up her poignant Q and A moment, she deserves all the harsh criticism it is sure to receive. No one gives an eff about Carrie's anti-gay sentiment except those who pity the poor soul who didn't get the crown for espousing her poorly articulated religious bigotry while exposing her half dressed body to millions around the world!

Nearly naked before the world, inarticulate before the world, bitter loser to the core before the world, and now a hero in the eyes of NOM- surrealism at it's finest!

DESPITE LIES, THOUGHT CRIME ACCUSATIONS, AND REPUBLICAN MISREPRESENTATIONS...

Federal Hate Crimes Bill H.R. 1913 Passes in The U.S. House of Representatives.

And despite the ignorance of R-North Carolina Virgina Foxx's remarks claiming Matthew Shepard was the victim of a robbery and not a hate crime, thus making it all a HOAX, the Federal Bill passed.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Democratic-led U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday approved an expansion of federal "hate crime" laws -- an effort that former Republican President George W. Bush had opposed.

On a vote of 249-175, the House passed and sent to the Senate a bill backed by the new Democratic White House to broaden such laws by classifying as "hate crimes" those attacks based on a victim's sexual orientation, gender identity or mental or physical disability.

The current law, enacted four decades ago, limits federal jurisdiction over hate crimes to assaults based on race, color, religion or national origin.

The bill would lift a requirement that a victim had to be attacked while engaged in a federally protected activity, like attending school, for it to be a federal hate crime. (UK Reuters.com)

FLAKE Is On A Homophobic Rant

“I don’t care what the politicians think. Ain’t nothing perfect about laying down and signing a license with somebody who got the same body parts you got.” Rev. Floyd H. Flake former Democratic congressman and one of the city’s most influential religious leaders, thundered last week during a Sunday service at the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral in Queens.
Flake went on for about two minutes, much to the delight of many in the pews, who cheered and applauded as the church organist punctuated the reverend’s words with notes from “I’ve Got a Woman,” by Ray Charles.
The sentiment, shared in many churches, would normally warrant little notice. Mr. Flake is the pastor of a predominantly black congregation in a community with a socially conservative tilt — hardly an unlikely spokesman for those opposed to same-sex marriage. (Source, New York Times, Sunday, April 26)

The Reverend doth protest too much methinks... I think he might have tendencies if you know what I mean... Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal to the extent that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies it.

PS. and By The Way, some Christians frequently use the Bible and their personal religious convictions to defend their racism, agreement with slavery, prohibitions against women, ill treatment of children and even interracial marriage. For example, "Because many people groups have been separated since the Tower of Babel, they have developed many cultural differences. If two people from very different cultures marry, they can have a number of communication problems, even if both are Christians."

What'll I Do? Golden Girl Bea Arthur 1922-2009

"I was already 50 years old. I had done so much off-Broadway, on Broadway, but they said, `Who is that girl? Let's give her her own series'" Lifetime Achievement Award Winner and Grammy Winner, Bea Arthur

Iconic Golden Girl, Bea Arthur, died in her Los Angeles home [Saturday] night, aged 86.

The Grammy Award winning actress was famous for her portrayal of Dorothy Zbornak in critically acclaimed television series The Golden Girls, which also starred the late Estelle Getty as her on-screen mother, Sophia Petrillo - despite Getty being junior to Arthur in real life.

A family spokesperson said the actress was battling cancer, although the did not elaborate on the cause of death.

In a 2008 interview with The Associated Press, gravel-voiced Arthur said she was lucky to be discovered by TV after a long stage career, recalling with bemusement CBS executives asking about the new "girl."(Source, PinkPaper.com)
